Kassel is the largest town in the north of Hesse (Nordhessen), Germany, located on the river Fulda, with approximately 200,000 inhabitants and a total area of 107 sq km. How to Get There:
Kassel's commercial airport Kassel-Calden, built in 1971, is only about 30 minutes from the city centre. Kassel can also be easily accessed from the Paderborn-Lippstadt regional airport and the international airports at Frankfurt am Main and Hanover via motorways as well as the intercity express and the Eurocity train connection. Kassel’s central location provides good road links to major motorways as well as adjoining main roads. The Intercity Express or Euro-City is an hourly service at the Wilhelmshöhe intercity railway station. The regional services take passengers to the Kulturbahnhof, once a museum cum railway station. The city operates a tram system (streetcar); a Stadtbahn-like system with light rail vehicles running on both main line rail and railroad tracks, called RegioTram. Buses ply through the city.
