Originally Gladbach, the town saw many changes in name till it settled in 1980 as Mönchengladbach. A city in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany, it has a population of
262,000 living on an area of 170 sq km.
How to Get There:
The city has two main railway stations: Mönchengladbach Hauptbahnhof (Hbf) and Rheydt Hbf. An S-Bahn line connects the city to Düsseldorf and Hagen. An InterCity connection finally reached Mönchengladbach this year, but only twice weekly. The closest major airport is Dusseldorf International (DUS). This airport is in Dusseldorf Airport, Germany and is 24 km from the city centre. The other major airport is Cologne Bonn Airport, 62 km from the city centre. The city is well linked by road.
