Reutlingen

Reutlingen, a city in southern Baden-Württemberg, Germany, is the capital of the district of Reutlingen. Reutlingen is located in one of the most picturesque segments of the Swabian Alb. It is the most recently developed city in the state of Baden-Württemberg. Historic
buildings and parts of the medieval fortifications still provide evidence today of the town's past importance. Today Reutlingen is a modern service town and industrial location as home to an established textile industry, also housing machinery, leather goods and steel manufacturing facilities. Home to Robert Bosch GmbH's Automotive Electronics division, Reutlingen is the largest economic centre in the south of Württemberg. It has a population of 110,000 in an area of 87 sq km. Reutlingen has Echaz river, a tributary of the Neckar, flowing through.

How to Get There:
The nearest major airport is Stuttgart, Germany. Reutlingen airport is situated within driving distance of the main city in Reutlingen. The airport links to destinations from where you can travel all over the world. Reutlingen airport handles millions of passengers every year. The airport is accessible via the main roads around Reutlingen. It is connected by autobahn to Tubingen and Stuttgart. You could also take a direct bus to many destinations in southern Germany and Switzerland. Local transport is by bus and train, with common tickets. Do be sure to have a pre-bought ticket before boarding a train, else you will be fined.

What to See: Church of the Virgin Mary, built in Gothic style in the 13th–14th centuries, with a statue of emperor Frederick II nearby; Marktbrunnen ("Market Fountain", 16th century), surmounted by the statue of emperor Maximilian II; Spitalhof, built as a hospital in the 14th century. Damaged by a fire, it was largely rebuilt in the 18th century; the Church of St. Nicholas, built in the 14th century as a chapel; the Gerber- und Färberbrunnen ("Tanners' and Dyers' Fountain"), 1920 and the City Hall, built in 1966.

Where to Eat:
Reutlingen has over 85 restaurants. The Rebstockle, Maximilian, Achalm, Landgasthof Wolf, Goldenes Dreieck and the Schutzenhaus are recommended.

Reutlingen has 6 hotels. City Hotel Fortuna and Furstenhof Reutlingen are expensive, while the Hotel Restaurant Klostermuhle and Fortuna Hotel are mid-range.
